ICIAM07 [logo]6th International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics / 16-20 July 2007

Exhibition & Advertising

Exhibition

The Congress Exhibition will be held at the downtown campuses of the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) and the University of Zürich from Monday, July 16 to Friday, July 20, 2007. Exhibitor booths and spaces will be well situated where conference attendees either gather for coffee breaks or receptions, or where they pass by between sessions. The exhibition provides an excellent opportunity for publishing, software and hardware companies, along with other interested organizations, to interact with potential clients.
For further information, please consult the Exhibitor's Manual.

Advertising

The Congress provides a great opportunity to advertise to the international mathematical community, along with those interested in the application of mathematics in industry and the sciences. There are a number of advertising formats available. For example, you may place an advertisement in the Program Book or in the magazine "Intelligencer", both of which will be distributed to all conference attendees.

Exposition at ETH-Library

Recreational mathematics from a historical point of view

The exhibition presents entertaining and playful aspects of mathematics. Mathematical recreations seem to exist in all cultures. Though highly varied in their characteristics and forms, they invariably offer uncomplicated and amusing access to mathematical problems.

Popular and less known games as well as numerous exhibits from the collections of the ETH-Bibliothek are shown. The exhibition treats their mathematical aspects and shows how important mathematical theories developed from the analysis of games.

Emphasis is laid on the historical and mathematical description of different kinds of games, such as games with numbers, geometrical forms and combinations, games of chance and strategic games. A general introduction to the history of mathematical recreations is also presented.
